Volunteer Engagement Coordinator – We are growing our team! ~ Full-Time, Permanent ~Competitive base salary of $57,476 annually The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide healthy food to those in need. The GVFB provides support through direct distribution to those in Vancouver, Burnaby, Recent Westminster and the North Shore, as well as through 160+ agency partners both locally and provincially. The Volunteer Engagement





Coordinator plays a key role in delivering an exceptional volunteer experience at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank (GVFB). This position is responsible for coordinating volunteer recruitment, onboarding, orientation delivery, engagement, scheduling, volunteer communications, and daily administrative operations that support the organization's volunteer program. The Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for volunteers and prospective volunteers, ensuring a welcoming, engaging, and well-organized experience from initial inquiry through ongoing participation.

The Coordinator collaborates closely with internal departments, community partners, and volunteers to support volunteer engagement initiatives, strengthen recruitment and retention efforts, and contribute to the continuous improvement of volunteer programs, processes, and overall volunteer experience. Lead volunteer recruitment and onboarding activities by screening applications, responding to applicant inquiries, coordinating orientation registration, preparing onboarding documentation, maintaining recruitment materials, and matching volunteers with appropriate opportunities. Coordinate volunteer scheduling, communicate priority shift opportunities, monitor attendance, and support volunteer retention and engagement efforts.

Support volunteer feedback processes, surveys, and program evaluations. Prepare reports,



presentations, spreadsheets, and other administrative materials, including attendance tracking, program statistics, and key volunteer metrics. Support the implementation and maintenance of volunteer policies, procedures, and documentation.

Provide administrative and logistical support for volunteer events, special initiatives, and ongoing program activities.

Personal

Attributes and Core Skills Passion for volunteer engagement and community service. Robust interpersonal and customer service skills. Comfortable speaking in front of groups and delivering presentations to volunteers, community partners, and stakeholders. 1-3 years of administrative experience, preferably in a non-profit, volunteer management, customer service, or community-focused environment. ~ Ability to travel within the lower mainland; a valid driver's license and vehicle will be an asset. ~ Ability to work from various GVFB locations and off-site venues as required, including volunteer fairs, community events, and recruitment activities. ~ Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support volunteer orientations, events, and other volunteer engagement activities. ~ Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point). ~ Experience in Canva and Cognito Forms is an asset. ~ Administrative user experience with Better Impact volunteer management software, or similar volunteer platforms.
