Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will weld products to ensure they meet strength, leak-free and other performance-enhancing specifications by customers and in-house management. Typically using a MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welder but may also be required to do TIG (tungsten Inert Gas) welding.
Your expertise will contribute to the creation of high-quality products, ensuring safety standards and project specifications are met. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of tools and techniques in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence and innovation.
Responsibilities
· Interpret welding process specifications
· Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment
· Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
· Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines
· Fit, braze and torch-straighten metal
· Operate oxygen arc cutting equipment (arc-air), (AOC)
· Operate drill presses
· Determine weldability of materials
· Select filler rods
· Perform post welding heat treatment
· Operate hoisting and lifting equipment
· Prepare jigs or set-ups for welding
· Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products.
· May be required to travel to customer locations
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
· High School Diploma
· Certification in Welding is an asset from a college or training school
· A minimum of 3 years’ experience in steel and aluminum MIG and TIG welding
· Able to read and interpret welding blueprints and/or process sheets.
· Able to interpret Weld Symbols.
· Able to work effectively in a team setting.
· Able to weld using various material and techniques.
· Complete tasks while ensuring performance targets and quality are met.
· Have great interpersonal and communication skills- – good understanding of people, calm under pressure, good listener, and patient.
· Previous experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing would be considered an asset
· Able to perform required duties with minimal supervision
· Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures and practices
· Highly organized, efficient, and responsible with strong attention to detail
· Able to take direction and complete tasks as assigned
· Willingness to learn
· Able to multi-task and handle multiple priorities on a daily basis
· Physically capable of lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs unassisted.
· Need to be flexible and willing to do various other tasks as assigned
· Look for ways to improve processes or to be proactive to avoid problems
· Robust problem-solving skills.
