Scw'exmx Community Health Services Society (SCHSS) is seeking an individual to fill a full-time Wellness Coordinator position; an individual who wants to build relationships, strengthen wellness, and be part of something meaningful.
Within the Wellness Coordinator role, the individual is responsible for working with a mental health counselling team that provides confidential mental health and addictions services. The incumbent provides support for the mental health and addictions counsellors while supporting the non-clinical mental health needs of individuals and families.
The individual will provide wellness support services that take a holistic perspective and are sensitive to the Nlakaʽpamux tradition and culture. They facilitate, and co-ordinate health services that contribute to the physical, social, spiritual, emotional and mental well-being of community members.
Qualifications
- 2 years of relevant work experience in delivering wellness related programs and services, or programs in a related field.
- Knowledge and experience with current issues and programs related to First Nation and wellness programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and efficient working relationships with clients, their families, management, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and under tight timeframes, deadlines, and competing priorities.
- First Aid Level 1 & CPR.
Experience:
- May consider equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates competency and the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
- Experience working with First Nation clients in rural, remote and on-reserve communities.
- Functional in Microsoft Office: MSWord, Publisher, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel.
- Current and clear criminal record check with clearance letter.
- Valid BC Class 5 drivers’ license required with a clear and current driver’s abstract.
- This is a demographic-specific posting where preference will be given to qualified First Nation applicants.
- Familiarity of Nlakaʽpamux culture, language and history will be an asset.

Pay: $27.00-$37.00 per hour
