Il Ponte is an upscale Italian eatery located in the lower east side. We are currently looking for kitchen line cooks/ prep cooks to join our team. We are looking for eager and enthusiastic candidates who are ready to work and take their job seriously.

Responsibilities for Line Cook
Prepare ingredients then cook and assemble dishes as indicated by recipes
Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range
Ensure that all dishes are prepared in a timely manner by restocking ingredients at work station and meeting prep times to ensure smooth delivery
Set up and clean station according to restaurant protocol
Maintain a clean work station area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves
Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards
Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line supervisor, sous-chef, or executive chef

Qualifications for Line Cook
Minimum 3 years of professional line-cook experience in a busy, full-service restaurant




Strong knowledge of Italian cuisine; experience with regional Italian cooking is an asset
Proficient on multiple kitchen stations, including grill, sauté, pasta and prep
Strong knife skills and ability to execute dishes consistently to recipe and presentation standards
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and proper food-handling procedures
Ability to work efficiently and calmly in a high-volume, rapid-paced kitchen
Reliable, punctual and professional with a robust work ethic
Ability to take direction, work independently and contribute positively to a team
Food Handler Certification required or willingness to obtain
Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
Culinary education or apprenticeship experience is considered an asset

Job Types: Part time, Full-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
