Responsibilities
Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over designated routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and other critical systems
Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and records of freight movement throughout each shift
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and customers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly
Perform minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle readiness and safety compliance
Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, freight handling, and driving procedures
Qualifications
Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
Proven experience in commercial driving and freight transportation
Skilled in forklift operation for loading/unloading cargo safely and efficiently
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation and basic automotive repair techniques
Ability to perform detailed vehicle inspections and identify maintenance needs
Solid communication skills with a focus on safety and customer service
Physical ability to handle loading/unloading tasks and long hours on the road
