Are you a motivated and dedicated Pharmacist interested in making a meaningful impact in patient care? AHS is seeking a skilled professional to join our pharmacy team at the Cross Cancer Institute. In this role, you will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications. You will assess patients for medication related issues, contribute to comprehensive medication management plans, and help optimize therapeutic outcomes. This hospital based position includes participation in patient care rounds, close collaboration with clinical teams, and engagement with patients and families to individualize therapy. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying medication orders and may also involve checking prepared products such as oral, parenteral, chemotherapeutic, and topical medications. You may assist with special access or investigational drug therapies and support pharmacy operations through mentorship of current staff, precepting students, and providing guidance to Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the secure,
effective and productive preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacist.
Entry-to-practice degree (Bachelor of Science or PharmD) in Pharmacy. Hospital pharmacy residency and/or prior hospital experience required. Recent direct patient care experience required (at least 1 year within the last 3 years). Minimum of 1 Year Oncology experience, preferentially at a tertiary center. Experience within a specific clinical area, precepting students, membership in a professional hospital pharmacy organization, and participation in projects, research or committee work is an asset.
