**Job Title: Press Brake Operator**
**Job Description**
The Press Brake Operator sets up and operates manual or CNC brake press machines to bend metal plates and materials to precise dimensions based on production requirements.
This role involves reading bills of materials and blueprints, pulling and staging materials using an overhead crane, and performing accurate metal forming operations in a busy shop environment.
**Responsibilities**
Read and interpret the bill of materials at the start of each shift to understand production requirements and material specifications.
Pull and stage all required materials from inventory using the overhead crane in a safe and efficient manner.
Set up the press brake machine according to the dimensions and details specified in the bill of materials and blueprints.
Operate manual or CNC brake press machines to bend metal plates and materials to the required lengths, angles, and dimensions.
Perform metal forming operations using brake press, roller, and related equipment while maintaining quality and accuracy.
Read and interpret blueprints to ensure correct part geometry, tolerances, and bending sequences.
Use basic mathematics skills to calculate measurements, angles, and material requirements for each job.
Handle materials using overhead crane and forklift equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
Inspect finished parts to verify they meet specified dimensions and quality standards, making adjustments as needed.
Work independently after the training period, staying self-motivated to complete daily production targets.
Follow all safety protocols, including the use of required PPE such as steel-toe footwear and safety glasses.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, especially around machines and material staging zones.
Collaborate with 23 team members in the back shop as needed to coordinate workflow and support production demands.
**Essential Skills**
Minimum 1 year of experience operating manual or CNC brake press or bender machines.
Proficiency in operating brake press machines and performing metal forming operations.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints for metal fabrication and bending tasks.
Strong basic mathematics skills for measuring, calculating angles, and verifying dimensions.
Experience using an overhead crane to move and position materials safely.
Experience operating a forklift in a shop or industrial environment.
Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated after the training period.
Commitment to following safety procedures and wearing required PPE at all times.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Nice to have experience using an overhead crane in a custom fabrication environment.
Comfort working in a dirty, dusty, and occasionally loud shop setting.
Willingness to work both day and afternoon shifts as required by production demands.

**Work Environment**
The role is based in the back shop, working closely with 23 other people.
After the training period, most tasks are performed independently, so the environment suits individuals who are self-motivated and comfortable working on their own.
The shop can be dirty and dusty, and noise levels can be high when machines are running.
Steel-toe footwear and safety glasses must always be worn, and PPE such as steel toes is required.
Candidates must be available for day and afternoon shifts; the current schedule is approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with an afternoon shift to be added as workload increases.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Hamilton, ON.
**Pay and Perks**
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.75/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Hamilton,ON.
