**Job Title: Construction Safety Officer**
**Job Description**
This role focuses on enforcing and promoting safety on an active heavy civil and industrial construction project in the Delta/Richmond, BC area.
The Construction Safety Officer ensures full compliance with Work
SafeBC requirements, maintains accurate safety documentation, and supports a strong safety culture on site.
In addition to safety oversight, the position includes minor physical labour to support site operations and general site activities.
**Responsibilities**
Manage and enforce site safety policies, procedures, and standards across the construction site.
Ensure full compliance with Work
SafeBC (WCB) rules, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Complete, organize, and maintain safety documentation, reports, and records in a timely and accurate manner.
Conduct regular site safety inspections and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
Coordinate incident reporting, investigations, and follow-up corrective actions.
Communicate proactively with site supervisors and workers regarding safety concerns, expectations, and best practices.
Deliver safety orientations for new workers and visitors to the site.
Ensure workers complete required pre-employment testing and any site-specific safety requirements.
Support site operations by moving pumps and assisting with general labour duties as needed.
Work collaboratively with site leadership to promote a safe, efficient, and compliant work workplace.
Use computer systems and software to prepare safety reports, track incidents, and maintain documentation.
Adapt to day, night, and weekend shifts as required by project needs.
**Essential Skills**
Minimum 2+ years of experience in a safety role such as Construction Safety Officer (CSO) or Occupational First Aid Level 3 (OFA3) on construction sites.
Minimum 2+ years of experience working on heavy civil, industrial, or earthworks projects (such as drilling, piling, and excavation).
Valid OFA3 certificate.
Strong, practical knowledge of Work
SafeBC (WCB) regulations and safety standards.
Comfort using computers and digital tools for reporting, documentation, and record keeping.
Willingness and ability to perform physical tasks and general labour duties as required.
Clear and effective communication skills with workers, supervisors, and project stakeholders.
Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Availability and willingness to work AM and PM shifts and participate in weekend rotation.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certificate is an asset.
Experience on major projects and large, complex construction sites.
Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with site teams.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate safety records.
Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and shifting priorities.

**Work Environment**
The role is based on a major heavy civil and industrial construction project in the Delta/Richmond, BC area.
The position involves working primarily on site in an outdoor construction environment, with exposure to earthworks activities such as drilling, piling, and excavation.
Standard weekday shifts include a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with 8-hour workdays.
The project also operates extended day and night shifts: a day schedule typically runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (8 regular hours plus 2 overtime hours) Monday to Friday, and a night schedule runs from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with plans to extend to a 10-hour shift from 4:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Monday to Friday.
There is a rotating Saturday shift approximately once per month.
The assignment is expected to last 12 years and involves close collaboration with site leadership in a fast-paced, safety-driven construction setting, where appropriate site-appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment are required.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Vancouver, BC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
