Health Care Aide – Cremona, AB

Happy at Home Healthcare Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Health Care Aide (HCA) to provide one-on-one care for a 93-year-old female client in Cremona, Alberta.

The client lives with her daughter and has dementia and is non-verbal. She is able to understand and communicate basic responses such as “yes” and “no.” She is approximately 90 lbs and requires patient, attentive support throughout the day. Due to her condition and mobility needs, she is considered a high fall risk.

This position is ideal for someone who is compassionate, patient, safety-conscious, and comfortable providing dementia care in a home setting.

Hours

Tuesday- Wednesday: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM and one coming Saturday on October 17

Duties:

The successful caregiver will provide assistance with:

- Personal care and daily living activities
- Mobility support and safe transfers as required
- Walking and gentle mobility exercises
- Fall prevention and close supervision due to high fall risk
- Meal preparation and assistance as needed
- Light housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe home environment
- Companionship and reassurance
- Supporting communication and responding appropriately to the client's non-verbal communication




- Monitoring for changes in the client's condition or behaviour and reporting concerns to the family/care team
- Providing compassionate dementia care while maintaining the client's dignity, comfort, and independence

Requirements:

Must have dementia care training/experience and Health Care Aide (HCA) certification

- Previous experience working with seniors, particularly individuals living with dementia, is strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable caring for a non-verbal client
- Must be patient, compassionate, reliable, and attentive
- Strong understanding of fall prevention and safe mobility practices
- Ability to assist with personal care and activities of daily living
- Ability to prepare simple meals and perform light housekeeping
- Positive communication skills and the ability to work respectfully with the client and her family
- Must be dependable and committed to providing consistent care
- Ability to work independently in a private home setting

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
