Overview
We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Technologist or Engineer-in-Training to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to diverse infrastructure projects, supporting both design and construction phases. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to ensure project success from conception through completion.

Responsibilities

Civil 3D Design and Drafting

- Produce civil infrastructure drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D: site plans, grading,servicing, profiles, details.
- Build and manage surfaces, alignments, corridors, pipe networks and grading models.
- Prepare site grading and drainage plans, including earthwork volumes andcut/fill balancing.
- Prepare erosion and sediment control (ESC) plans.
- Maintain drawing standards, sheet sets and revision control

Stormwater Management

- Prepare stormwater management reports: pre/post-development flows, detention sizing, quality treatment.
- Size storm sewers, catch basins, culverts, ditches and outlet structures.
- Design low impact development (LID) measures and underground storage where
- required.
- Run hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., rational method, SWMM, HydroCAD or equivalent).

Building Site Servicing

- Design water, sanitary and storm service connections from the main to thebuilding.
- Complete fire flow and domestic demand calculations and coordinate with fire protection.




- Locate hydrants and fire department connections (FDCs).
- Prepare servicing briefs and design calculations to support submissions.

Approvals and Permitting: Nova Scotia

- Prepare Halifax Water submissions to the Halifax Water Design and Construction Specifications.
- Prepare HRM submissions: Municipal Design Guidelines, lot grading, Streets By-law (S-300) right-of-way/encroachment permits.
- Prepare NSECC approvals: watercourse and wetland alteration (Activities Designation Regulations).
- Coordinate municipal servicing approvals outside HRM (e.g., Kentville, WestHants).

Approvals and Permitting: New Brunswick

- Prepare Watercourse and Wetland Alteration (WAWA) permit applications with the Department of Environment and Local Government.
- Support EIA registration where triggered.
- Prepare municipal servicing submissions (e.g., Saint John, Moncton, Fredericton).

Approvals and Permitting: Ontario

- Prepare MECP Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) applications, including the CLI-ECA process.
- Prepare Conservation Authority permit applications (O. Reg. 41/24).
- Prepare municipal Site Plan Approval engineering packages: FSR, SWM report, grading and servicing plans.
- Design to OPSS/OPSD and to local municipal standards.

Coordination and Construction Support

- Coordinate with architects, structural, mechanical, electrical and landscape consultants.
- Respond to municipal and utility review comments and resubmit.




- Review shop drawings and answer contractor RFIs for civil scope.
- Support site reviews, as-built drawings and deficiency tracking.
- Prepare civil quantities and cost input for DBS estimating and budget services.

Qualifications (optional section)

- Civil engineering degree (EIT) or civil engineering technology diploma.
- Experience with EGNS, APEGNB or PEO for EITs, or TechNova registration (or eligibility) for technologists.
- 2+ years of Civil 3D experience in land development or municipal work.
- Working knowledge of approval processes in NS, NB and ON.

Experience

Proven experience with CAD software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation, and Schematics.

Familiarity with construction inspection procedures and quality assurance practices on civil infrastructure projects.

Knowledge of construction estimating processes and project management principles.

Experience working with GIS platforms such as ArcGIS for spatial data analysis.

Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to system design, drafting, and mechanical engineering components.

Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.

Prior exposure to construction experience within residential or institutional development projects is highly desirable.

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
