Lead Parts Advisor

Location: Peterborough Volkswagen — Peterborough, ON

Compensation: $50,000-$60,000
Schedule: [Monday–Friday / Seasonal Saturday’s

About the Role

Peterborough Volkswagen is looking for an experienced and motivated Lead Parts Advisor to join our team. This is a key role within our Parts Department, responsible for delivering exceptional service to our technicians, service advisors, wholesale customers, and retail guests while helping lead the day-to-day operations of the department.

The ideal candidate is an automotive parts professional who combines solid product knowledge with excellent customer service, organization, and leadership skills. You will help ensure the right parts are identified, sourced, sold, and delivered efficiently while supporting a positive and productive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support the day-to-day activities of the Parts Department.
- Provide exceptional service to technicians, service advisors, retail customers, and wholesale accounts.
- Accurately identify and order automotive parts using manufacturer catalogues, VIN information, and other parts-identification systems.
- Coordinate parts availability, special orders, backorders, returns, and warranty-related parts.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate parts inventory levels.
- Assist with receiving, inspecting, stocking, and organizing incoming parts.
- Coordinate with the Service Department to ensure technicians receive the correct parts in a timely manner.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.
- Assist with training, coaching, and supporting Parts Advisors and other department staff.
- Help maintain department processes, procedures, and standards.
- Assist with inventory counts, reconciliation, and discrepancy resolution.
- Process parts invoices, credits, and returns accurately.




- Monitor special orders and follow up with customers as required.
- Help identify opportunities to improve departmental efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts counter and storage area.
- Follow all dealership policies, manufacturer procedures, and applicable health and safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as required by the Parts Manager.

What We're Looking For

- Previous automotive parts experience, preferably in a dealership environment. Volkswagen experience is a bonus.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, systems, and terminology.
- Previous leadership, senior advisor, or mentoring experience is an asset.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize multiple requests while maintaining a high level of service.
- Comfortable using dealership management systems, parts catalogues, and Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively with technicians, service advisors, customers, suppliers, and management.
