Nelson CARES Society is seeking an experienced and collaborative Program Manager -
Coordinated Access and Drop-In Services to lead Coordinated Access activities and oversee
Drop-In services in Nelson.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position supervises staff and volunteers, coordinate
housing access and community partnerships, oversees HIFIS and Reaching Home reporting, and supports safe, inclusive, trauma-informed services for people experiencing or at risk of being unhoused.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee daily operations of the Drop-In Centre.
- Lead Coordinated Access, vacancy matching, HIFIS reporting, and Reaching Home requirements.
- Supervise, coach, and support staff and volunteers.
- Build strong relationships with housing providers, Indigenous organizations, and community partners.
- Monitor program budgets, reporting, service outcomes, and safety requirements.
- Support the Nelson Committee on the unhoused and community initiatives.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary education in Social Services, Community Development, Public

Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

- Minimum 2 years of related community, housing, unhoused persons, or program coordination experience.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.




- Knowledge of trauma-informed, harm-reduction, culturally safe, and person-centred practices.
- Supervisory experience and knowledge of Coordinated Access or HIFIS are assets.
- Valid First Aid/CPR, Food Safe, WHMIS, Naloxone Training, Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence, and satisfactory Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check.

Compensation: $39.25 per hour (MGR Grid #15, Step 1)

A higher hourly rate may be offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
