Licensed Assistant / Investment Representative
Who We Are
Royds Private Wealth is an established wealth management practice with nearly 30 years of experience. Our close-knit team of five is committed to building long-term client relationships through personalized advice and a disciplined investment philosophy.
We are looking for a personable, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with clients, has a genuine interest in investments, and wants to build a long-term career in wealth management.
This is not a business development or client acquisition role. Opportunities to take on additional advisory responsibilities may develop over time.
Your Qualifications and Skills
- A degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field, or relevant financial services experience.
- Completion of the CSC and applicable CIRO licensing requirements, or a commitment to obtaining the required qualifications within an agreed-upon timeframe.
- Experience in an investment advisory practice is an asset.
- Familiarity with NBIN and Conquest is an asset.
- Excellent listening, note-taking, and written communication skills.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, sound judgment, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
What you will be doing Client Meetings and Documentation
- Participate in client meetings alongside the principal advisor, accurately documenting discussions, decisions, and follow-up actions.
- Document relevant client telephone conversations and communicate required follow-up to the appropriate team members.
- Develop the ability to independently capture significant information without requiring the principal advisor to review.
Client Service and Relationship Support
- Build strong client relationships and develop a thorough understanding of their financial goals and circumstances.
- Respond to client inquiries, assist with routine account and transaction questions, and provide reliable support during the principal advisor's absences, within the scope of your licensing and experience.
Financial Planning and Investment Support
- Develop a thorough understanding of our investment philosophy, products, and approach to meeting clients' financial goals.
- Assist with financial planning using Conquest, investment research, and client review preparation.
- As your knowledge and licensing develop, contribute to investment discussions and potentially take on additional advisory activities.
Meeting Preparation and Business Operations
- Assist with preparing client files and supporting documentation for meetings.
- Maintain accurate client records, coordinate follow-up, and support selected business-processing activities.
- Develop proficiency with our internal systems and provide additional support during busy periods and employee absences.
What Success Looks Like
Within 90 days: You understand our investment philosophy and internal processes, participate in client meetings, prepare accurate notes, and contribute to client service.
Within six months: The principal advisor can conduct client meetings and calls without needing to document conversations afterward or review every note and follow-up item. You independently capture important information and ensure the appropriate team members receive what they need.
Longer term: You become a trusted, knowledgeable team member who independently handles appropriate client service activities, supports financial planning, and provides reliable coverage during the principal advisor's absences.
Compensation
$70,000–$95,000 annually, depending on experience, licensing, and qualifications, plus performance-based bonus opportunities.
