About Weir Construction

Weir Construction has worked in the construction and oilfield industries in Western Canada since 1951. We're now expanding our Logistics Division out of Grovedale, just south of Grande Prairie, and this is a genuine ground-floor opportunity: you'll help shape how a new division runs, backed by 75 years of operating history.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced Truck Dispatcher to join the dispatch team supporting our Logistics Division. This is not an entry-level position. Reporting to the Dispatch Manager, you'll schedule and dispatch trucks and crews, keep drivers, field supervisors and management connected in real time, and keep our tracking systems current.

This is a full-time, permanent, in-person role at our Grovedale operation, just south of Grande Prairie. It isn't remote or hybrid, so you'll need to be local, or relocating before your start date.

If you know oilfield dispatch, understand the pace it runs at, and want to help build a new division rather than just keep one ticking over, we'd like to hear from you.

Responsibilities

- Schedule and dispatch trucks and field employees efficiently and in sequence
- Direct drivers to pickups and deliveries with accurate, timely instructions
- Relay information between field crews, supervisors, and management
- Maintain the dispatch crew book and all computer tracking systems
- Take part in employee evaluations alongside management
- Support the HSE officer with monthly inspections, audits, and safety meetings

What You Bring

- At least 2 years in the oilfield industry. This is a firm requirement, given the pace and site-specific hazards of the work you'll be dispatching into

- Dispatch or logistics experience is preferred
- Solid understanding of freight operations and field logistics
- Based in, or relocating to, the Grande Prairie area before your start date
- Proficiency in Outlook and MS Office; ROOK and Motive experience is an asset
- Clear, direct communication that holds up under pressure
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
- An analytical mindset and comfort interpreting operational data

Compensation

$70,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience. Strong, directly relevant oilfield dispatch experience will be reflected toward the upper end of the range.

Group perks start after a standard 90-day waiting period, and RRSP matching starts after one year of service. Full details are confirmed in your offer letter.

Before you start

Any offer of employment is conditional, and any pre-employment check or verification relevant to this role is carried out only after a conditional offer has been made, not before.

Equal opportunity

Weir Construction is an equal opportunity employer and recruits in accordance with the Canadian Human Rights Act. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and are committed to providing reasonable accommodation throughout the recruitment process and during employment. If you need an accommodation at any stage of the application process, please let us know.
