Duties & Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to early morning snow calls (24/7 on-call readiness during storm events).
- Clear snow and apply ice melt to sidewalks, entryways, and walkways across designated route sites.
- Safely operate power equipment (single and two-stage snowblowers, power sweepers, leaf/snow blowers) and hand tools (shovels, scrapers).
- Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections on tools and gear to ensure equipment is operational.
- Follow all workplace safety protocols and wear required PPE in freezing temperatures.
- Communicate efficiently with crew leads and report site conditions or mechanical issues immediately.
- Use a personal smartphone to clock in/out, complete daily FLHAs (Field Level Hazard Assessments), view digital site maps, and upload required site proof-of-work photos using the Connecteam app.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Reliability:
Must have dependable transportation to get to the yard/shop early in the morning during storm conditions.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in sub-zero temperatures and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Availability: Flexible availability including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on weather.
- Smartphone & Tech Literacy: Must possess a reliable smartphone with active data service and be comfortable operating mobile apps (Connecteam) for clocking shifts, viewing route maps, and submitting digital safety logs (FLHAs).
- Valid Driver’s License & Insurable Driving Record: Must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license and be able to meet company commercial auto insurance underwriting criteria (clean driver’s abstract required upon offer).
- Experience: Previous winter snow removal or seasonal outdoor labour experience is a solid asset (will train motivated candidates).

Contract length: 6 months
Pay: $19.50-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 50.0 per week
