About CanFix Repair

CanFix Repair is a commercial collision repair facility in Burlington specializing in professional collision and body repairs. We are looking for an experienced Auto Body / Collision Repair Technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and is comfortable performing the hands-on, physically demanding work required in a busy collision repair environment.

This position is primarily focused on body work, collision repair, structural repair, vehicle disassembly/reassembly and component replacement.

Key Responsibilities

The Auto Body Technician will be responsible for completing collision repairs safely, efficiently and to a high standard of workmanship.

Responsibilities include:

- Repair collision damage to vehicle body panels and structural components
- Perform body work including dent, panel and structural repairs
- Disassemble vehicles and equipment to identify visible and hidden collision damage
- Reassemble vehicles following completion of repairs
- Repair or replace damaged interior and exterior components
- Remove, repair and install welded, bonded, bolted and sectioned vehicle components
- Perform MIG and other required welding procedures
- Assess and repair structural damage
- Operate frame straightening, pulling, anchoring and measuring equipment
- Remove and install mechanical, electrical, trim and accessory components as required during collision repairs
- Grind, sand, cut, drill and prepare repaired areas using hand and power tools
- Read and understand repair estimates and work orders
- Follow manufacturer/OEM repair procedures where applicable
- Inspect completed repairs for fit, finish, safety and quality
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Follow all shop health and safety procedures
- Work collaboratively with estimators, painters, technicians and management to keep repairs moving efficiently through production

Physical Requirements – Important

This is a physically demanding, hands-on position. Applicants must be able to safely perform the physical requirements of collision repair work throughout the workday.

The successful candidate must be able to:





- Regularly lift and carry parts, tools and materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently
- Occasionally assist with moving or positioning heavier vehicle components using appropriate equipment or team lifting procedures
- Spend extended periods standing and walking on concrete shop floors
- Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, squat and reach
- Work in kneeling or crouched positions while repairing lower vehicle panels and components
- Work with arms extended or overhead when removing, installing or repairing components
- Safely push, pull and position vehicle components, body panels, equipment and tools
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with sanding, grinding, drilling, welding and body repair
- Maintain sufficient hand strength and dexterity to safely operate hand tools, power tools and collision repair equipment
- Climb in, out of and around vehicles and commercial equipment as required
- Work around vehicles in various stages of disassembly
- Work in a collision repair environment where there may be noise, dust, fumes, vibration, heat and changing temperatures
- Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety footwear, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves and respiratory protection when required
- Maintain the physical stamina necessary to perform body and collision repair duties throughout a full shift

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

- Minimum 3 years of professional Auto Body / Collision Repair Technician experience
- Demonstrated experience performing collision and body repairs
- Experience with vehicle disassembly and reassembly
- Experience with MIG welding and collision repair welding procedures
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools




- Ability to read and understand repair estimates and repair procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Valid driver's licence
- Own basic technician tools/toolbox
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position

Preferred:

- Ontario 310B Auto Body and Collision Damage Repairer licence preferred
- Structural and frame repair experience
- Experience using frame straightening and measuring equipment
- Commercial vehicle, truck, bus or fleet collision repair experience

Compensation

$50,000–$75,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, licensing, technical ability and demonstrated collision repair skills.
