Hill & Company Chartered Professional Accountants LLP is looking for a Senior Accounting Technician to join our growing team located in the west end of Edmonton!

As a Senior Accounting Technician, you will be responsible for the preparation of medium to complex Notice to Reader and Review engagements as well as corporate and personal tax returns. The start date is dependent on the timing of finding the right candidate.

Duties of the job include simple to complex

- Preparation of Notice to Reader and Review engagement financial statements
- Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns
- T4, T5, and GST filing
- Occasional bookkeeping and payroll
- Tax planning
- Providing support to team members in related tasks and guidance to junior staff as required
- Other ad hoc duties as required

What you bring to this role

- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a public accounting firm
- A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting
- Excellent working knowledge of accounting standards
- Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
- Excellent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with clients, team members, and external parties
- Willingness to work overtime during our tax season

Ideally, you’ll also have





- Experience working in a paperless accounting firm
- Prior experience working with CaseWare and TaxCycle
- Ability to type at least 60 WPM (10fastfingers.com)

A CPA or equivalent designation would be considered an asset, but is not essential.

Hours of Work

- Average 40 hours/week
- 9:00 am – 4:00 pm + flexibility + overtime as needed
- Fridays off in July & August

Compensation*

- Expected to be ~$65,000 to $70,000/year with 2 weeks paid vacation
