The Systems Lead provides technical leadership across integrated operational systems supporting LRT service, including supervisory control, communications, networked systems, passenger-facing systems, and cross-discipline interfaces. The role links operations, maintainers, IT/cybersecurity functions, engineering, and suppliers to sustain reliable, maintainable, and controlled systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the subject-matter expert for assigned integrated systems, including SCADA, operational networks, communications, passenger information, CCTV, access control, and system interfaces, as applicable.
- Review work orders daily to verify technical quality, completeness, and correct FRACAS classification.
- Provide field and bench troubleshooting support for complex system faults, communications failures, alarm trends, performance issues, and interoperability concerns.
- Review alarms, system logs, configuration records, work orders, and performance data to identify technical risks and improvement opportunities.
- Establish, monitor, and refine preventive-maintenance, health-check, backup/restore, and recovery plans with maintenance and IT teams.
- Lead or support root-cause analyses, system-event reviews, playback analysis, and corrective-action follow-up.
- Plan lifecycle activities, including software and hardware refreshes, licensing, supplier support, spare-parts needs, and obsolescence management.
- Conduct periodic system, configuration, and documentation audits; provide quality assurance for assigned systems.
- Develop and update operating procedures, maintenance instructions, test protocols, interface-control documentation, and recovery plans.
- Lead technical change management, including impact assessment, testing, implementation planning, rollback planning, and configuration updates.
- Work with the Performance Manager to improve data quality, PRS/CMMS reporting, and compliance reporting.
- Participate in Failure Review Boards, Change Control Boards, task forces, and technical working groups.
- Interface with the Owner, Operator,
IT/cybersecurity teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Diploma in electrical, electronics, communications, controls, computer systems, or related engineering technology; an engineering degree is acceptable.
- Five or more years of relevant experience supporting integrated rail/transit, industrial control, communications, or operational-technology systems.
- Experience with SCADA, networks, communications, system integration, diagnostics, and change/configuration management is preferred.
- OACETT certification or eligibility is preferred; P.Eng., EIT, or applicable IT/OT certifications are assets.
- Solid understanding of system availability, controlled change, technical documentation, and cybersecurity-aware practices.
Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of:
- Integrated operational technology systems, including SCADA, operational networks, communications, passenger information, CCTV, access control, and system interfaces.
- FRACAS, root-cause analysis, alarm and event analysis, system diagnostics, configuration management, and controlled technical change.
- Preventive maintenance, system health checks, backup/restore and recovery planning, lifecycle management, licensing, spares, and obsolescence management.
- Cybersecurity-aware practices for operational technology and networked systems.
- CMMS/PRS reporting, data quality, compliance reporting, quality assurance, and technical documentation.
Ability to read and interpret:
- System architecture and interface-control documentation, network and communications diagrams, technical drawings, and configuration records.
- System logs, alarms, event records,
performance data, diagnostic information, work orders, and maintenance histories.
- Operating procedures, maintenance instructions, test protocols, recovery plans, technical specifications, and supplier documentation.
- Change-control records, impact assessments, test results, implementation and rollback plans, and audit records.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in office, maintenance-facility, equipment-room, and field environments supporting LRT operations.
- Requires coordination with operations, maintenance, engineering, IT/cybersecurity teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- May require field or bench troubleshooting of operational systems and participation in testing, restoration, or implementation activities outside normal office conditions.
- Must comply with applicable site safety, access-control, cybersecurity, and operational procedures when working on or around controlled systems.
Compensation
- Salary Range - $100,000 - $110,000

Asset
- Experience supporting SCADA, operational networks, communications, passenger information, CCTV, access-control, or other integrated LRT/transit systems.
- Experience with rail/transit or industrial operational-technology environments and system integration.

- Experience with configuration/change management, system diagnostics, lifecycle planning, and cybersecurity-aware OT practices.
Pay: $95,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
