THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will help lead the kitchen team and ensure that food is prepared consistently, efficiently, and to a high standard.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working both on the line and in a leadership role, with responsibilities ranging from daily restaurant service and prep to private events, tournaments, banquets, catering, and special club functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist the Executive Chef with the daily operation and organization of the kitchen.
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff during service and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Prepare and execute menu items consistently and to recipe specifications.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, flavour, presentation, portion control, and consistency.
- Organize daily prep lists and ensure all stations are properly prepared for service.
- Assist with menu development, specials, seasonal features, and member dining promotions.
- Support the execution of private events, banquets, tournaments, member functions, and catered events.
- Assist with ordering, receiving, storage,

and inventory management.
- Help control food costs through proper portioning, waste management, storage, and product utilization.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen at all times.
- Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, temperature control, and health and safety procedures are followed.
- Train, coach, and support cooks and other kitchen team members.
- Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Work closely with Front of House management to ensure excellent service and communication.
- Help develop systems and procedures that improve kitchen efficiency and consistency.
- Participate in menu tastings and quality-control checks.
- Assist with ordering and production planning based on restaurant, event, and catering requirements.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

- 3+ years of skilled kitchen experience, with previous leadership or Sous Chef experience preferred.
- Solid cooking and food-preparation skills.
- Experience working in a restaurant, club, hotel, catering, or event environment.
- Ability to lead a team while remaining hands-on in the kitchen.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Ability to remain calm and organized during busy services and large events.
- Strong attention to detail and food presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
- Culinary education or equivalent professional experience is an asset.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

You are a working chef and natural leader who enjoys being in the kitchen.

You take pride in producing great food, but you also understand that a successful kitchen depends on organization, communication, consistency, and teamwork.

You are comfortable going from preparing a busy lunch service to helping execute a 100-person private event. You lead by example, maintain high standards, and take ownership of your kitchen.

- Competitive compensation based on experience
- Opportunity to work in a growing private club environment
