Quality Control Technician
Job Summary
Newmar Window Manufacturing Inc., a trusted manufacturer of high-performance windows and entry door systems and a member of the ALPA Lumber Group, is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our manufacturing team.
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting finished and in-process products to ensure they meet company specifications, drawings, quality standards, and customer requirements. This position works closely with Production and other departments to identify quality issues, document findings, support corrective actions, and help maintain consistent product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to accurately use measuring and inspection equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in-process and final inspections of windows, doors, components, and assemblies to ensure products meet established specifications and quality standards.
- Inspect products for dimensional accuracy, workmanship, assembly, fit, finish, and overall conformance to requirements.
- Use measuring and inspection tools such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other applicable equipment.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, specifications, work instructions, and product requirements.
- Identify, document, and communicate quality defects, discrepancies, and non-conforming products to the appropriate departments.
- Complete and maintain QC inspection records, log sheets, and other quality documentation.
- Prepare weekly QC reports and compile quality data to identify recurring defects and trends.
- Assist Production in investigating quality issues and determining potential root causes.
- Support corrective and preventive actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create, update, and maintain work instructions,
inspection procedures, and other QC documentation as required.
- Work closely with Production and other departments to promote consistent quality and improve manufacturing processes.
- Ensure inspection equipment and measuring tools are used correctly and maintained as required.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or similar industrial environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality control and inspection practices.
- Experience using precision and general measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and tape measures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering or manufacturing drawings and specifications is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify dimensional, assembly, and workmanship issues.
- Comfortable documenting inspection results and maintaining accurate quality records.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Understanding of quality assurance, inspection, non-conformance, and continuous improvement principles.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Positive verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with Production and other departments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to perform some lifting and other physical requirements associated with inspecting manufactured products.
