Yorktown Family Services is a community-based non-profit social services agency dedicated to providing effective, accessible, quality mental health treatment, prevention, and outreach services to children, youth, women, and families in West Toronto. We are uniquely organized to deliver services through two independent but integrated organizations: Infant, Child, and Youth Mental Health & West Toronto Youth Hub — a children’s mental health center, and Violence Against Women Services — a shelter for women and their children who are fleeing an abusive relationship.

The Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) Program is a mobile integrated care, behavioral health, social service support, and community capacity building model that provides direct service intervention and prevention for youth and young adults involved with or at risk of targeted violence acts across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario. The model involves numerous evidence-based and informed practices to divert young adults, and adults away from targeted violence and or violent ideologies.

Primary Function:

The ETA Family and Individual Therapist will provide evidence based and informed therapy services to youth, young adults, and families who are impacted by, or involved with ideologies that disrupt daily life, or may lead to acts of violence. The candidate will assist men and youth involved with the criminal justice system, under investigation, or at risk of incarceration.

Responsibilities:

· Provide clinical mental health expertise as part of an interdisciplinary team

· Engage families and/or family members through family therapy, particularly where differing ideologies may disrupt daily living, or contribute to potential violence

· Collaborate closely with the Engagement and Intervention Support Worker to coordinate treatment plans and interventions

· Monitor social engagement and mental health functioning regularly using appropriate tools and screening measures

· Complete psychosocial assessments, mid-term reports, and closing reports

· Deliver therapy in person, by telephone, in the community, or virtually, up to 2-3 times per week

· Refer participants to more intensive services, including psychiatry, outpatient or inpatient support, and residential care, when required

· Respond to referral requests and provide coaching support within 24-48 hours





· Collaborate with external services and systems, including legal, justice, law enforcement, and local, provincial, and federal agencies

· Incorporate culturally responsive approaches into all clinical practices

· Provide program services to participants across the GTA and throughout Ontario, both in person and virtually

· Participate in rapid access/walk-in mental health therapy programming

· Support other programs and departments as required, including Rapid Access Counselling for community members aged 0-30, and groups for men who have perpetrated abuse in their families

Qualifications:

· Master’s in Counselling Psychology/Psychotherapy, or Master of Social Work

· Registration with a relevant college, such as CRPO, or Registered Social Workers of Ontario

· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with youth, young adults, and adults involved with the criminal justice system

· Strong understanding of social and mental health risk factors associated with young adults and adults moving toward violent ideologies

· Understands geopolitics and its impact on current trends influencing individuals toward groups that promote violence

· Apply evidence-based clinical approaches, with strong knowledge and experience in Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, SFBT, Family Systems Therapy, and other models according to participant needs

· Engage hard-to-reach individuals and communities using creative, persistent, and effective engagement strategies

· Strong presentation and communication skills

· Attend court and other legal proceedings when required

· Manages sensitive information appropriately and develop communication strategies aligned with the level of risk or opportunity

· Work flexible hours, including evenings twice a week, and weekends

· Complete Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) Level One training; this is considered an asset

· Obtain and maintain Vulnerable Sector Screening as required





· Maintain access to a reliable vehicle, as travel throughout the GTA is required

· Vulnerable Sector Screening Required
