Opportunity: Lotek is currently looking for an Electronic Assembler for our Production Department. We seek a highly motivated individual capable of working in a team environment. The Electronics Assembler is responsible for assembling, testing, inspecting, and packaging electronic components, products and subassemblies used in animal tracking and monitoring devices. This is a full time, 12-month contract role with possibility of becoming permanent.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous electronics assembly experience required and preferably working in a low volume and high mix manufacturing environment.
- Ability to solder and work with small electronic components.
- Ability to read assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, and production documentation.
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Fine soldering experience under a microscope.
- Basic computer skills for recording production and test information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Duties:
- Assemble electronic products, circuit boards, wiring harnesses, and subassemblies according to work instructions, blueprints, schematics,
and engineering drawings using basic tools such as scrimper, cutter, tweezers, etc.
- Perform hand soldering and rework of electronic components in accordance with company quality standards.
- Install and connect components such as batteries, antennas, sensors, connectors, and microelectronic devices.
- Operate assembly tools and equipment, including soldering stations, crimping tools, microscopes, andbasic testing equipment such as a multimeter.
- Conduct functional testing and basic troubleshooting of assembled products to verify proper operation such as continuity, current and voltage.
- Inspect finished assemblies for workmanship, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Record production data, test results, and quality information accurately.
- Identify and report defects, nonconforming materials, or process issues to supervisors or quality personnel.
- Follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures and other manufacturing safety requirements.
- Read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs), assembly instructions, and production documentation.
- Package finished products for shipment according to company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area using established housekeeping practices.
- Assist with inventory counts,
material handling, and stock replenishment as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve assembly and testing issues.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Positive hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 25 lbs (11 kg).
- Ability to use magnification equipment and perform close visual inspection of small components.
