Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting daily production and assembly activities within the modular construction factory. This role involves assisting skilled trades, preparing materials, operating hand and power tools, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. The role contributes to production efficiency, supports the fabrication of high-quality modular units, and adheres strictly to all safety and quality standards set by the company.
This position will initially be offered on a full-time contract basis, with the potential to transition to permanent employment based on production requirements, business needs, and individual performance.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, plumbers, electricians, welders) with the assembly and fabrication of modular units.
- Measure, cut, and prepare construction materials according to shop drawings and specifications.
- Perform basic assembly tasks using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Apply sealants, adhesives, and insulation as directed by production leads.
Material Handling & Organization
- Load and unload construction materials, components,
and equipment safely.
- Move materials to and from designated staging and production areas to ensure workflow is uninterrupted.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining accurate inventory levels on the shop floor.
Site & Equipment Maintenance
- Clean and maintain workstations, production lines, and the general factory floor to ensure a hazard-free environment.
- Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on hand and power tools.
- Properly dispose of waste materials, scrap, and recycling in designated areas.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and occupational health and safety regulations.
- Identify and report safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the Production Supervisor immediately.
- Inspect work for quality and report any defects or issues in materials and workmanship.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Education
- High school diploma required.
Experience
- 1–2 years of experience as a general labourer in construction, manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment preferred.
Technical Skills
- Familiarity with safely operating a variety of hand and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, grinders).
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, tape measures, and production instructions.
- Forklift or elevated work platform (EWP) certification is considered an asset.
Physical Ability
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and prolonged standing.
- Comfortable working at heights or in confined spaces within modular units when required.

- Ability to follow instructions closely and learn new tasks quickly.
- Effective communication skills to work collaboratively within a busy factory environment.
- Safety-focused mindset with disciplined adherence to procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to support warehouse and production needs as required.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in production and warehouse settings.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting of materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Regular interaction with supervisors, tradespeople, warehouse staff, and carriers.
- Exposure to factory noise, dust, moving machinery, and varying temperature conditions.
- Occasional overtime may be required to meet operational needs.
