Project Coordinator

- Location: Hybrid; some in-person work required in and around the Edmonton region; otherwise, remote work. Occasional travel may be required.
- Total hours per week: Up to 35 hours per week
- Proposed start date: October 26, 2026. This is a contract position until April 2027, with a possibility of extension.

Role Description

The John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights (JHC) is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to lead community engagement, workshop facilitation, and event logistics.Project coordinators host gatherings with diverse communities and work in collaboration with internal and external facilitators. The coordinators will support the planning and lead the logistics and outreach of events, workshops, gatherings, learning sessions, and focus groups. The Project Coordinator is responsible for activity reports and is able to work collaboratively with Project Lead(s) and the Senior Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate in this position would fulfill the following duties as Project Coordinator:

- Work with Project Leads for orientation and frequently check in with them for grounding in the goals and objectives of the projects and activities associated with them.
- Coordinate and support the planning and delivery of in-person and online project activities, including community gatherings, workshops, learning sessions, roundtables, legal conversations, focus groups, spaces for sharing lived experiences, and arts-based and interactive activities.
- Lead project logistics, including scheduling, participant communication, venue coordination, materials, travel, accommodations, accessibility planning, facilitator coordination, and other logistical details required for project activities.
- Coordinate and support the practical logistics of events and activities, including registration and participant check-in, room set-up and seating, catering and refreshments,



materials and supplies, technology and virtual meeting platforms, accessibility arrangements, attendance tracking, note-taking, and other on-site or event-related needs.
- Support outreach and relationship-building with community members, partners, facilitators, artists, advocates, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure strong project continuity and administrative tracking during the employment period;
- Build and maintain respectful and dignifying relationships with community partners, workshop participants, and stakeholders.
- Attend and share project updates and progress at bi-weekly staff meetings, and work collaboratively with various staff to ensure project deliverables are met on time.
- This position may also include attending staff gatherings and/or meetings, JHC’s AGM, and supporting additional JHC or local community engagement events in Edmonton. Occasional travel may be required within AB, SK, or MB. Reasonable expenses will be covered in this case.
- Attending in-person and remote meetings and/or events relevant to the project.
- Be willing to work at the JHC office space in West Edmonton (Hamptons) once per week.

Skills & Experience:

Strong candidates will have:

- Experience with project coordination including managing timelines, project progress reporting and following up with project partners. .
- Experience in event logistics planning such as ensuring accessibility accommodations, safety, comfort, and full participation for all participants;
- Previous administrative experience including tracking multiple activities, timelines, communications and deliverables;
- Experience using platforms such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office (ex: any tools JHC uses for project work) ;
- Experience working respectfully with Indigenous communities, knowledge holders, or Indigenous-led initiatives

Required Skills:

- Familiarity with healing-centered, trauma-informed, human-centered and rights-based approaches to working
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with diverse community partners, artists, advocates, and legal and policy experts;




- The ability to adapt to changing circumstances, work independently, and collaborate effectively with team members and diverse community partners;
- The ability to take full ownership of all assigned activities and follow them through from planning to completion

Conditions of Employment:

- Travel may be required in and around the Edmonton region; in some rare cases, travel around the provinces of AB, SK, and MB may be required;

Salary Expectations:

$30–$34/hour based on 35 hours per week. Employees will be eligible for benefits after the standard 3-month probationary period.

Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
