Overview
Greenstaff Medical Canada is seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) for a travel contract opportunity in Canada.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a healthcare facility, supporting accurate diagnosis and patient care through high-quality laboratory testing. The ideal candidate will have solid technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to different clinical environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Collect, prepare, and process specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as required.
- Conduct testing across laboratory disciplines, including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and pathology, as applicable to the facility.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment while following quality control and calibration procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of results to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and laboratory team members.
- Follow laboratory safety protocols, infection prevention standards, and applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Assist with inventory management and maintain adequate laboratory supplies.
- Support the training and orientation of new staff or students, where required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Medical Laboratory Technology diploma or degree.
- Valid registration or licence with the applicable provincial regulatory body, as required.
- Previous clinical laboratory experience; hospital experience is highly desirable.
- Experience performing phlebotomy and handling various specimen types.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
- Experience in relevant laboratory testing areas, such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, or pathology.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work in a travel assignment and adapt to the facility’s requirements.
