Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Prep Cook to join the kitchen team of a busy, professional catering company.

This is a consistent Monday–Friday position for someone with hands-on kitchen and food preparation experience who is dependable, organized, efficient, and comfortable working in a fast-paced catering environment.

The ideal candidate takes pride in proper food preparation, cleanliness, sanitation, punctuality, and teamwork. The Prep Cook will support the culinary team by preparing ingredients and ensuring the kitchen is fully prepared for daily production and catering operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare ingredients for daily catering production
- Wash, peel, chop, slice, dice, and portion vegetables, meats, and other ingredients
- Follow recipes, preparation lists, and instructions provided by chefs and supervisors
- Measure and portion ingredients accurately
- Assist with basic cooking and food preparation as required
- Complete daily mise en place and ensure ingredients are ready for production
- Label, date, store, and rotate food products properly
- Monitor ingredient levels and communicate prep needs to supervisors
- Maintain proper portioning and food-quality standards
- Keep prep stations clean, organized, and sanitary throughout the shift
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures
- Prevent cross-contamination and follow proper food-handling procedures
- Properly clean and sanitize knives, cutting boards, equipment, and work surfaces
- Assist cooks, chefs, and other kitchen team members as needed
- Follow instructions and respect the kitchen’s management structure
- Complete opening, cleaning, and other assigned kitchen duties

Experience Requirements

- Previous professional Prep Cook, Kitchen Assistant, or food-preparation experience preferred
- Catering, restaurant, hotel, or commercial kitchen experience is an asset
- Good knife skills and knowledge of basic food-preparation techniques
- Understanding of qualified kitchen procedures
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-storage practices
- Ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality or sanitation
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move kitchen supplies and food products as required.

Compensation & Schedule

- Pay: $21.00/hour
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Approximately 35 hours per week
- Paid weekly
- Consistent weekday schedule
- Catering company assignment
