Taiv

Who We Are:

Taiv is a fast-growing tech startup located in Winnipeg, Canada. Taiv uses AI to make business TV more fun, engaging, profitable, and easier to manage, starting with bars and restaurants. We've built proprietary tech that uses computer vision to watch live TV and improve the content with contextually-aware commercials, content, and games. Our tech also automates the manual AV tasks that venues have to do every day, to make bar management easier, standardized, and more profitable. We're venture-capital backed and graduated from Y Combinator, the world's top tech accelerator, in winter 2020. Program alumni include Airbnb, Instacart, DoorDash, etc. (www.ycombinator.com/topcompanies).

We are looking for an AV Technician in Calgary to join our growing team!

What We're Looking For:

Taiv is live in 6,000+ venues, and every one of them starts with an install. We put a small box behind each TV in bars, restaurants, gas stations, and convenience stores. We need experienced AV technicians in the field to get those installs done right and keep them running. Most installs are simple: HDMI, power, and RCA. The tricky part is that no two restobars are wired the same way, and plenty of them run matrix systems that were set up years ago. You'll be the person who figures out what's going on and gets it working.

This is a field-based contract role. You'll drive to 2-4 venues a day in your own vehicle, so a reliable car, truck, or van is a must. We reimburse mileage, but we can't provide transportation.

What You'll Be Doing:

- Install and service Taiv hardware at bars, restaurants, gas stations, and convenience stores.
- Work with existing venue AV setups, including matrix switchers and multi-screen systems.
- Troubleshoot signal, power, and connectivity issues on-site,

and loop in our remote team when something needs a second set of eyes.
- Keep venue staff in the loop while you work. You're often the only person from Taiv they'll ever meet in person.
- Update our internal team after each visit so everyone knows what was done and what's still open.
- Drive to 2-4 venues per day across the metro area and surrounding suburbs.

Who You Are:

- You know commercial AV. You can trace a signal through a matrix system and find where it's breaking.
- You don't give up after the first fix fails. You work through the problem until the screens are on.
- You're skilled on-site. You show up on time and work around a busy restaurant without getting in anyone's way.
- You communicate clearly, with venue managers and with our team, especially when a job doesn't go to plan.
- You're comfortable working on your own. Nobody's looking over your shoulder in the field.

Your Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of commercial AV or IT experience
- Hands-on experience with matrix systems
- Your own reliable car, truck, or van (required)
- Comfortable working on ladders in commercial spaces
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Able to communicate in English (required)

Job Details:

- Job Type: Contract, part-time
- Pay: $25 - $30 per hour, based on experience
- Mileage: reimbursed at $0.44 per kilometer
- Hours: 15-40 hours per week, depending on install and service volume
- Schedule: Weekdays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with occasional weekends based on venue availability
- Availability: minimum 3 days per week (required)
- Vehicle: your own reliable vehicle (required)

DO NOT APPLY TO THIS JOB IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15.0 – 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
