Qualifications – Ontario Healthcare Facility
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience
- Significant emergency nursing experience with the ability to function independently
- ICU experience and ability to provide ICU coverage strongly preferred
- CTAS, TNCC, ACLS, BGM, Basic Cardiac Rhythm, and IV Therapy certifications required
- Critical Care course required if ICU trained
- Must be willing to cross-train and provide coverage in Acute Continuing Complex Care and Medical/Surgical units
- Must be available for full time hours, up to 20 shifts within a 6-week scheduling period
- Must be available for the entirety of the contract
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: January 16, 2027

Responsibilities:
Registered Nurses are required to adhere to the scope of practice as defined by the College of Nurses of Ontario. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care to patients with a wide range of acute and urgent conditions
- Perform patient assessments, triage, monitoring, and reassessments using appropriate clinical judgment
- Provide emergency interventions, treatments, and medications within scope of practice
- Respond quickly and appropriately to changes in patient condition and emergency situations
- Apply CTAS principles and maintain appropriate patient prioritization
- Provide care and coverage in the ICU when required and appropriately qualified
- Support care delivery in Acute Continuing Complex Care and Medical/Surgical units following cross-training
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Follow infection prevention, patient safety, and workplace safety standards
- Provide patient and family education and support as appropriate
Note: Duties may vary slightly based on facility and shift, with specific guidance provided during site orientation.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of Canadian Emergency Department nursing experience
- Significant experience working independently in a fast-paced emergency setting
- ICU experience is strongly preferred
- Experience caring for patients with complex and acute conditions
- Ability to adapt to different clinical units and patient populations
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
Skills:
- Strong emergency assessment and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients in a high-pressure environment
- Strong documentation and medication administration skills
- Ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
- Adaptability and willingness to cross-train across multiple units
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the healthcare team
