Our client, an organization supporting mining, forestry, and other heavy industries, is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to join their team.

Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible to audit/implement and manage workplace safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a safe work environment for all employees. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential hazards and providing training to staff on safety protocols, and will collaborate with various departments to foster a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Part of the JHSC committee as a certified management representative.
- Facilitate meetings, track data and ensure committee effective functioning
- Auditing/ Updating current company H&S; program.
- Updating policies and procedures as required
- Updating training materials related to workplace safety
- Perform risk assessments
- Identify potential hazards in the workplace and work with other JHSC members to develop strategies to mitigate risks
- Assist worker reps with inspecting the workplace
- Maintain documents
- Safety inspections, training sessions, investigations and other relevant information
- Coordinate with other branches H&S; representatives and support/assist when required.
- Possible to include travel to other branches occasionally.
- Perform shop & field work audits

REQUIREMENTS

· Proven experience in a health and safety role or similar position.

· Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations,



environmental health standards, and safety best practices.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.

· Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in identifying risks and implementing solutions.

· JHSC P1 &P2; certification

· Previous WHMIS and other safety training (Forklift, working at heights, LOTO etc. knowledge or certification asset).

· Safety Awareness in 4 or 5 Steps training

· Valid certified first aid asset.

· Problem-solving and investigative skills

· Ability to conduct Risk Assessments

*Minimum Salary: $25.00/hr
