Previous siding experience isn't required - we will train the right people to do the job the right way.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Siding Helper
Reports to: Lead Installer
Salary: $52,000 per year
What you'll be doing: Supporting an experienced installer and lead installer to renovate the exterior siding on older homes in the Edmonton area. This includes:

- Tearing old siding and stucco off older homes
- Installing house wrap and insulation panels as needed
- Moving materials as needed to set up for the day's work (lifting up to 100 lbs will be required)
- Helping to set up scaffolding, ladders, and other work platforms
- Cutting and/or installing siding panels & other home exterior products as needed
- Cleaning up the work area on a daily basis

Predictable hours and income: We work Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 5:00. If it's too wet or cold outside to work safely, you'll still get paid. If the crew is down for a couple of days in between projects, you'll still get paid.

What You'll Need

Construction experience: Construction is a unique field of work - and it takes personal, on-site experience to truly appreciate that. Applicants must have 1 year of construction experience to be qualified. If you don't have construction experience, but you do have some trade school, that will work too.

Skills with tools: We'll train you to install siding, but you'll need to have skills with both hand tools and power tools to start with. If you can swing a hammer and properly read a tape measure, you're good to go.

Confidence working safely at heights: Some of our projects require working at heights, so being comfortable and confident on ladders and scaffolding platforms is a must.

Clean background check:



All Blue Jay employees must have a clean criminal record check.

Reliable transportation: Our projects are all in the city of Edmonton, or within easy driving distance. But many of the jobs will not be accessible by public transit.

Willingness to learn and be taught: We can teach how to install siding, but you'll need to have a willingness to learn and be coached.

Be ready to work outside!: We are an exterior renovation company. This means that we work outside, all year round! This is a wonderful perk in July, but can be a drag in January. We have specific weather policies in place though - you won't be asked to work outside when it isn't safe or practical to do so.
