Full-Time Pastoral Minister

Position: Full-time Pastoral Minister

Primary Location: South Windsor Catholic Family of Parishes, 1400 Cabana Road West, Windsor, Ontario

Commitment: 35 hours per week – must be able to work evenings and weekends. Flexibility in days of work and hours per day will be based on events and ministry needs.

Compensation: Expected wage range: $23.36 - $36.59. Placement within this range is commensurate with relevant industry experience, qualifications (education, skills) and/or professional designation. This position is eligible for participation in the lay staff benefits plan and pension program.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Pastor, and working as an integral part of the Parish Team, the Pastoral Minister is responsible for various areas of faith formation, program coordination and delivery in working with elementary & secondary school-aged children in our supported schools. The Pastoral Minister is responsible for the evangelization, development, and support of the liturgical, Sacramental and community life of the parishes.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

· Works with the Parish Pastoral Team to develop and support the liturgical life of the parishes.

· Coordinates, facilitates and participates in the formation of catechumens, the proper celebration of the “Rite of Christian Initiation”, and the Sacramental preparation of children with Confirmation, Eucharist, and Reconciliation.

· Engages in Pastoral Care of parishioners which may include visitation of the sick, elderly, and homebound,



organizing celebrations for them and ensuring they receive the Eucharist and have their other pastoral needs met.

· Establishes and participates in various programs and activities which help to strengthen and enhance the spiritual life of the parish such as; small faith communities, scripture study, etc.

· Facilitates days of prayer and/or times of retreat.

· Recruits, trains and coordinates volunteer ministries within the parish family in accordance to required Diocesan protocols and policies.

· Other duties of a similar nature as assigned by the Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor of Arts or Master’s degree in Pastoral / Lay Ecclesial Ministry or in Religious Studies, Certificate in Pastoral Ministry or willingness to obtain one.

· Active practicing Catholic – letter of recommendation from Pastor is required.

· Good working knowledge of the evangelizing mission of the Church.

· Leadership qualities; organizational skills; teaching skills; strong communication skills.

· Ability to work independently, as well as successfully as part of a team.

· Skills in volunteer recruitment, training, and support.

· Working knowledge of Canva, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel).

· Flexible hours of work, some evenings, and weekends.

· Reliable transportation to travel throughout the community and diocese.





· Must be versatile and adaptive to the different cultural traditions within the family of parishes.

· Friendly, hospitable and professional representative of the Diocese of London at all times.

· An understanding of and desire to support and promote the mission of the Diocese of London

A Vulnerable Sector police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
