Position Description:

The Accounting Operations & Cost Analyst plays a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting, operational decision-making, and internal controls within the Finance and Accounting department.

This position is responsible for job costing analysis, payroll administration, accounting automation spot checks, and general accounting activities, with a focus on ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial and operational information. By analyzing cost variances, monitoring job profitability, reviewing payroll and AP/AR processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement, this role helps strengthen accounting processes, support management reporting, and contribute to informed business decisions.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree or diploma/degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field·




- Minimum 5 -7 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Solid experience with job costing and manufacturing accounting is strongly preferred.
- Proficient experience in Payroll and Benefits administration is must.

Preferred / Asset:

- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Word), and accounting or ERP systems.

Specific Knowledge and Skills:

- Accounting and Financial Controls – applies strong accounting principles, internal controls, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end procedures.
- Job Costing and Analysis – analyzes labour, material, overhead, estimated costs, actual costs, profitability, and job cost variances.
- Payroll and Benefit Administration – processes payroll accurately and maintains complete payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Process Controls and Automation Review – reviews AP and AR automation, identifies exceptions, documents review results, and supports SOP compliance.
- Analytical Problem Solving – identifies discrepancies, investigates root causes, and recommends practical improvements.
- Computer and ERP Skills – works effectively with Microsoft Excel, Word, accounting systems, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
