Work Arrangement: Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Markham Elevation Centre (MEC) three times per week at minimum, or other frequency dictated by the business.

The Role: Our Infotainment team is hiring a software engineer to design and develop software in our Android based Infotainment system. You'll be part of a team working on cutting-edge software solutions including the Software-Defined Vehicle solutions on shipping the latest in vehicle experience to our customers.

What You'll Do

GM is developing a breakthrough in the new Software Defined Vehicles, you will directly impact the GM vehicles that drive down the road and improve our customer experience! Your work will contribute directly to GM's vision of a world with ZERO Crashes, ZERO Emissions, and ZERO Congestion.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in delivering high-quality software solutions for Software Defined Vehicle – Infotainment Applications and Services
- Design, development and implementation of Infotainment requirements to continuously improve software functions and user experience using embedded software development frameworks in Android, QNX and Linux environments




- Adhere to best software design principles, utilizing design patterns and understanding abstractions for effective software solutions.
- Assist with data handling, analysis, and problem-solving tasks that connect software behavior to real-world system or user outcomes.
- Contribute to application logic, automation, and other internal software used to improve developer efficiency, prototyping speed, or user-facing feature exploration.
- Support software testing and debugging by reproducing issues, validating expected behavior, and documenting results clearly for teammates.
- Work with cross-functional engineers to translate mechatronics- or user-experience-oriented ideas into prototypes and implementation plans.
- Participate in team design reviews, technical discussions, and project planning while communicating progress and open issues effectively.

Required Qualifications:

- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, Electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or equivalent
- Eligible to work full time hours, 40 hours a week for a term of 12 months (consecutive semesters) starting January 2027

Preferred Skills:





- Demonstrated interest in software-oriented work within engineering, including coursework.
- Strong interest in programming roles that sit at the intersection of software, physical systems, and user experience.
- Proven ability to collaborate with teammates, and communicate effectively on technical projects, leadership experience highly desired.
- Comfortable learning new tools and adapting quickly across technical problem spaces.
- Programming: experience preferably in Kotlin, Java, or C/C++, Jetpack compose
- Experience with JIRA, GIT, and Agile software development framework
- Object-oriented software development experience with knowledge in algorithms and data structures
- Experience with technical project work, coordinating group work, and managing timelines and deliverables.
- Experience gathering stakeholder feedback and iterating solutions based on user needs.
- Solid collaboration, public speaking, adaptability, and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge and experience with CAN, LIN, ARXML, or Ethernet communications protocol.
- Formula SAE, Ecocar, or other Automotive related experience/clubs

NOTE- YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN A CO-OP PROGRAM AND MEET THE PROGRAM’S ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS. ALL STUDENTS MUST ALSO BE LEGALLY ENTITLED TO WORK IN CANADA.

The monthly salary range for this role is $4,264.00 to $4784.00. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
