POSITION: Accounting Teacher
PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT: Employment Training
REPORTING TO: Manager, Employment Training & Career Services
SALARY: TBD. Based on a combination of education and experience.

Description
Columbia College is seeking a collaborative team member and student-focused facilitator to join our Accounting Assistant team.
Instruction in the program is delivered through a blended schedule consisting of three online days and two in-person days per week.
Schedule
Weeks 1-10 and Week 15: approximately 26.5 instructional hours per week
Weeks 11-14: students participate in practicum placements and facilitator hours are reduced.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate learning in QuickBooks, Canadian Taxation, and Business English.
- Support students in developing the technical, professional, and employability skills needed for entry-level employment.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback, coaching, and support.
- Collaborate with colleagues, employers, and practicum partners to support student success.
- During practicum weeks, facilitate reflection sessions, conduct practicum visits, and support program operations as assigned.
Required Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who hold a Bachelor of Education degree and a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate; however,
strong industry candidates with facilitation experience are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor of Education degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or equivalent Canadian provincial teaching certification. Foreign teaching credentials will not be considered.
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field, combined with a minimum of five years of recent industry experience and demonstrated teaching, training, facilitation, coaching, or mentoring experience.
In addition, applicants must:
- Have legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Be available to work a blended schedule consisting of three online days and two in-person days per week.
