Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Aquaculture Hatchery Technician to join our team and support the growth of our mussel hatchery operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on in a vibrant aquatic environment, ensuring the successful production of healthy seed stock. The technician will be instrumental in maintaining hatchery systems, collecting data, and supporting the overall health of our aquatic organisms.

Full training is available. Reliability and Attention to detail is an asset.

Duties

- Assist with daily hatchery operations, including monitoring water quality and maintaining equipment.
- Collect and record data related to larval development, survival rates, and environmental conditions.
- Perform routine inspections of tanks, systems, and infrastructure to ensure optimal functioning.
- Handle biological materials with care,



including performing tasks that require heavy lifting of supplies or equipment.
- Support biosecurity protocols by cleaning tanks, disinfecting equipment, and managing quarantine procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of hatchery activities, observations, and data collection efforts.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve hatchery processes.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

- Basic math skills for data recording and analysis.
- Experience or interest in aquaculture or biological sciences is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling supplies or equipment.
- Robust attention to detail for accurate data collection and record keeping.
- Willingness to work in a physically active environment with exposure to water and marine conditions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
