Role: AS400 (IBM i) System Administrator

Location:FLORENCEVILLE, NEW BRUNSWICK (Remote)

Hiring Mode: Contract

Pay: CAD 55-60/hr.

Role Summary:

Responsible for administration, monitoring, maintenance, security, upgrades, backup/recovery, and production support of IBM i (AS400/iSeries) environments. The role also manages batch scheduling using ROBOT Scheduler and supports business-critical workloads.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer IBM i environments across Production, DR, QA, and Development.
- Perform system monitoring, health checks, troubleshooting, IPLs, and performance tuning.
- Manage users, authorities, security, storage, jobs, subsystems, queues, and system resources.
- Manage IBM i OS upgrades, PTFs, HIPER PTFs, security patches, and Technology Refresh activities.
- Administer BRMS and perform backup, restore, recovery, and DR activities.
- Support HA/DR solutions such as MIMIX, PowerHA, or iCluster.
- Administer ROBOT Scheduler, including jobs, calendars, dependencies, workflows,



and batch schedules.
- Monitor and troubleshoot failed, delayed, or long-running production jobs and perform reruns/recovery.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end batch processing.
- Follow ITIL processes for Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Maintain operational documentation and coordinate with application, infrastructure, and business teams.

Essential Skills

- Strong IBM i / AS400 / iSeries administration experience.
- Experience with PTFs, OS upgrades, IPLs, security, and performance monitoring.
- Hands-on experience with BRMS, backup/recovery, and DR/HA.
- Strong ROBOT Scheduler and batch-processing experience.
- Experience with production support and job troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of IBM Power Systems.
- Valuable troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
