Associate Dean of Students & Campus Chaplain

POSITION SUMMARY The King’s University is an open-enrollment Christian university that seeks to educate all students to be agents of renewal and reconciliation.
The Associate
Dean/Campus Chaplain therefore fosters a culture of hospitality, respect, dignity, belonging, and care for all members of the University community. Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Associate Dean of Students/Campus Chaplain contributes to the leadership of a vibrant, welcoming, and holistic student experience at The King’s University.
The position provides pastoral care, crisis intervention, and support during emergencies, periods of significant transition, grief, loss, or other challenging circumstances. The Associate Dean supports the Dean of Students in selected areas of student life, student care, helping to uphold community standards, and case management, and contributes to initiatives that advance the University's mission, vision, and values.
The position provides spiritual, pastoral, community, and student-life leadership while supporting students in their personal, relational, spiritual, vocational, and community development. The Associate Dean of
Students/Campus Chaplain may also serve as a theological and pastoral resource for the broader
University, understanding the institutions reformed theological roots while engaging our ecumenical community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance, crisis support, and referrals to students while fostering an
inclusive and respectful campus community.
- Serve as a resource on faith, spiritual formation,
Christian identity, and religious diversity for
students, faculty, staff, and university leadership.
- Support student success, wellbeing, engagement, leadership development, and community
belonging through co-curricular programs and initiatives aligned with the university’s mission and values.
- Assist with student conduct processes, including investigations, case management, adjudication,
and policy implementation related to student life and residence.
- Collaborate across campus to enhance student wellness, retention, resilience, and overall student
experience.
- Lead, mentor, and develop staff and student leaders, supporting recruitment, training,
performance management, and professional growth.
- Contribute to the administration of student-life programs, services, budgets, and resources,
including residence, counselling, orientation, intercultural programming, and wellness initiatives.
- Partner with university departments to advance institutional priorities and support the strategic
goals of Student Life.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Mature and expressive faith commitment to Christ as Lord, demonstrated through humility,
compassion, hospitality, service, and care for others.
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate pastoral care to individuals from diverse faith,
cultural, Indigenous, and personal backgrounds.
- Master’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Studies, Student Affairs, Counselling, Education, or a
related field.
- Ordination or certification from a recognized religious organization.
- Understanding of reformed theology preferred.
- Significant experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy, student development, community
development,
spiritual formation, or a related area; experience in a Christian post-secondary setting preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Sound judgment and demonstrated ability to manage sensitive, complex, confidential, and crisis
situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience with student leadership, community programming, co-curricular learning, budget
management, and program administration.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
- Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and relational management databases or other
University systems.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call as required.

The salary range for the position is $72,842 - $89,586/yr dependent on qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefit package, pension, and generous vacation and time off are provided.
