Maple Villa is an independent 93-bed licensed long-term care home located in Burlington, Ontario. Maple Villa is fully accredited by Accreditation Canada and has been providing quality resident and family-focused care since 1971. We continually strive to make a difference, to provide Person and Family-centered care and provide services where safety is a priority.
Our interdisciplinary team are committed about the care for our residents, staff, families and volunteers and are consistently reflecting on practices and areas of improvement to provide exceptional, individualized, culturally competent care to our residents and maintain a strong and dedicated health care team.
We are opening a new Home in January 2027 that will support 256 residents in our community! The new Maple Villa is located on Palladium Way in north Burlington.
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Director of Care (RN or RPN)- Education, to join our team.
Salary Range
RN: $104,869.00- $113,513.58
RPN: $80,403.34-$87,031.16
Under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON) – Standards and Quality and Director of Care (DOC) - Clinical, the Associate Director of Care is responsible and accountable for ensuring the provision of staff education and training to promote the wellbeing of each individual resident. Assists the DON and DOC in providing supervision of nursing and personal care services to ensure an outstanding level of resident care is maintained and enhanced on a continuous basis, in accordance with the policies of the Home and applicable legislation. Ensures a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
Ensures that continuous quality improvement outcomes approved for the Home are met or exceeded, and demonstrates dedication to professional values and the mission, vision and values of the Home. Implements a culture focusing on resident and team member experience where we embrace “Better Living” by creating communities where ALL residents, families and staff thrive.
ADOC – RN may assume role of the Director of Care – Clinical in their absence.

Qualifications
● Must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss 79 and Ontario Regulation 246/22 ss. 51
● 2 years’ experience in Long Term Care preferred
● Post Secondary or Certification in Education, Adult education/Training or related field is an asset
● Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
● Must be computer literate

Main Duties and Responsibilities: ADOC - Staff Education
· Provides support for the following programs:
o Surge Learning o New Hire, Student and Volunteer Orientation o RAI/POC Sessions o Student Recruitment o In-home Education
· Responsible for Emergency Code Education and Planning
· Maintains in-house system platforms to ensure records are accurately input and updated accordingly including password maintenance
· Education support for Point of Care (POC), Point Click Care (PCC) and Pharmacy training for new hires with the support of the ADOC - Quality.
· Supports the Home’s learning and development program by organizing sessions, maintaining educational registrations and training records in accordance with legislative requirements
· Annually checking Registered staff members are registered with the CNO and update their skill profile on system platform
· Creation of monthly education boards to ensure staff are being educated on areas of need and according to legislative requirements
· Ensures continuous quality improvement through the maintenance of records, reports and program statistics to support education program evaluation
· Supports the student and volunteer placement program with recruitment, orientation, onboarding and administrative functions, including applying for applicable funding opportunities
· Assists with the organization of annual education sessions in accordance with all legislative requirements
· Provides travelling education sessions in home areas including clinical care functions, Lift & Transfer, POC, PCC, RAI and other training, etc.
· Supports completion of audits as assigned including and not limited to med pass audits
· Provides hands on training during the orientation process (ie. Lift & Transfer, Oxygen Filling)
· Stewardship of new hires, assist with onboarding, follow up support and maintenance of orientation check lists, which includes sending all orientation documents to the Human Resources Business Partner
· Supports educational and quality improvement outcomes, which align with the accreditation process.
· Supports the Mask Fit testing, GPA programs for new hires and provides ongoing support as directed
· Provides regular and timely reports on areas of risk including Critical Incidents, concerns and complaints and programs and initiatives to the Director of Care and Director of Nursing

· Participates in the manager on call and weekend on call rotations
· All ADOCs will be trained on the duties of the RN/RPN and occasionally may have to work a unit in a case of an emergency or circumstances where there are no registered staff available The duties and responsibilities outlined above are representative but not all-inclusive.
