Little Village Academy | Barrie, Ontario

Full-Time | In-Program Leadership Position

Love being an RECE, but ready for more?

Little Village Academy is looking for an experienced, passionate RECE who loves being in the classroom but is ready to take the next step into leadership.

This is a unique in-program leadership position for an educator who wants to continue doing what they love while gaining more responsibility, having a stronger voice in the program, developing leadership skills and helping shape the future of LVA.

As our Assistant Program Supervisor, you will spend the majority of your day working directly with children and educators while also working alongside our Program Supervisor and ownership team to support the leadership, organization and continued growth of Little Village Academy.

We want someone who sees Early Childhood Education as a career, takes pride in their work and is looking for a workplace where they can grow long-term.

About Little Village Academy

Little Village Academy is a licensed preschool program and the beginning of the Urban Village educational journey.

Created in connection with Urban Village Academy, our private elementary school, LVA gives children the opportunity to begin building the confidence, independence, curiosity and love of learning that we hope they will carry with them throughout their school years.

We see the preschool years as so much more than preparation for Kindergarten. They are an incredible opportunity to shape how a child sees themselves as a learner. We want our children to leave LVA believing that their questions matter, that they are capable of solving problems, that trying something new is exciting and that learning is something they genuinely enjoy.

Our goal isn't to make preschool feel like elementary school. It's to spark academic curiosity early.

We want children asking questions, experimenting, creating, exploring books and language, solving problems, developing early literacy and numeracy skills, becoming increasingly independent and, most importantly, discovering that learning is exciting.

Our program combines purposeful play with intentional learning opportunities, early literacy, early academics, outdoor education, creativity, mindfulness, independence, hands-on experiences and strong relationships.

Our connection with Urban Village Academy also gives our educators a unique opportunity to look beyond the preschool years. We can intentionally build the skills, habits and confidence that will help children thrive as they move into school, while still protecting the magic, playfulness and wonder that belong in early childhood.

We are looking for educators who are excited by that philosophy.

You don't need to choose between play-based learning and meaningful academic foundations. We believe the best early childhood programs can do both.

We believe children deserve an environment that feels warm, exciting and intentional, and we believe exceptional educators deserve to feel valued, supported and excited about coming to work.

What You'll Do

As Assistant Program Supervisor,

you will be an active member of the classroom while also taking on meaningful leadership responsibilities, including:

- Working directly in program and helping create an exceptional experience for our children
- Supporting educators with programming, curriculum implementation and classroom organization
- Helping develop engaging activities, experiences and learning opportunities across the program
- Helping ensure programming reflects LVA's focus on curiosity, school readiness, early literacy, independence and a genuine love of learning
- Supporting continuity between the LVA preschool experience and the transition into Urban Village Academy
- Supporting the Program Supervisor with day-to-day centre operations
- Helping maintain licensing requirements, Ministry compliance and program standards
- Supporting documentation, policies, records and licensing preparation
- Acting as a positive leader, mentor and resource for the educator team
- Supporting staff onboarding, training and professional development
- Helping maintain high expectations for classroom environments, programming and professionalism
- Building strong, positive relationships with children and families
- Assisting with tours and prospective family inquiries
- Supporting special events, family engagement and community initiatives
- Contributing ideas and having a genuine voice in the continued growth and direction of LVA
- Stepping into additional supervisory responsibilities when the Program Supervisor is unavailable

A Role Designed to Grow With the Program

This is intentionally an in-program leadership role. We believe strong leaders should be connected to the children, educators, families and day-to-day life of the centre.

Initially, the Assistant Program Supervisor will spend a significant portion of their day working directly in program while receiving dedicated administrative time each week to complete leadership, planning and operational responsibilities.

As LVA grows, this position will grow with it. As enrolment increases, additional educators join the team and the operational needs of the program expand, the Assistant Program Supervisor's dedicated administrative and leadership hours will increase accordingly.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to join LVA at an exciting stage of growth and grow into a larger leadership role alongside the program.

We are looking for someone who is excited to help build that future, not simply step into an already-defined position.

What We Offer

We believe longevity should be recognized and that great educators should have reasons to build their careers with us.

Our full-time team benefits include:

- Extended health benefits through MyFlex after the qualifying period
- 5 paid sick/personal days per year
- Paid vacation, beginning at 2 weeks and increasing to 3 weeks after 5 years

- A paid Birthday Day Off after 3 years of service
- $150 annual Wellness Allowance

- Dedicated planning and documentation time
- Professional development, mentorship and leadership guidance
- Opportunities for advancement within our organization
- A genuine voice in program decisions and future initiatives
- Access to resources and support to help bring your classroom and programming ideas to life

We want our team to have more than a paycheque. We want our educators to have a workplace where they can build a career, grow into leadership and still have a life outside of work.

Who We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

- Are a Registered Early Childhood Educator in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators

Previous supervisory experience is an asset, but it is not necessarily required. If you are an exceptional RECE who has become a natural leader within your current team and you're waiting for someone to give you the opportunity to take that next step, we want to hear from you.

Ready for Your Next Step?

You don't have to leave the classroom behind to move your career forward.

If you love the idea of helping build a preschool program where children become curious, capable and genuinely excited to learn, and you've been thinking, "I'm ready for more," this may be exactly the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Please submit your resume along with a short introduction telling us about yourself, your experience in Early Childhood Education and why you're interested in taking the next step into leadership with Little Village Academy.
