HUX Bar & Bistro is looking for an experienced Bartender / Server to join our front-of-house team. We will also consider exceptional servers without bartending experience.
HUX is a modern neighbourhood bistro in downtown Halifax, combining modern French cooking with British sensibility, a thoughtful wine program and a robust cocktail offering.
We’re looking for someone who understands great hospitality and is equally comfortable providing polished table service or working behind the bar.
This is a hands-on role in a small, professional team. Personality matters to us. We want someone warm, confident and engaging who can read a table, make guests feel genuinely welcome and deliver excellent service without it ever feeling stiff or scripted.
What you'll do...
- Deliver warm, knowledgeable and attentive service to our guests
- Confidently manage a section while maintaining a high standard of hospitality
- Prepare and serve classic and contemporary cocktails to a consistent standard
- Serve and discuss wine, cocktails, spirits and menu items with guests
- Make thoughtful recommendations and help create a memorable dining experience
- Accurately enter orders and process payments through our POS system
- Maintain a clean, organized and well-stocked bar and service area
- Assist with opening, closing, setup and restocking
- Work closely with the kitchen and the rest of the FOH team to ensure smooth service
- Follow responsible alcohol service and food safety requirements
What we're looking for...
- Previous experience in a quality restaurant, cocktail bar or similar hospitality environment
- Strong bartending skills and a good understanding of classic cocktails
- Comfortable providing full table service as well as bartending
- Wine knowledge is an asset, but a genuine interest in learning is just as important
- Excellent communication and guest service skills
- Professional, reliable and able to stay composed during busy services
- Strong attention to detail
- A team-first attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
- Valid Nova Scotia responsible beverage service certification, or willingness to obtain it
