Alliance Engineering & Construction has been delivering exceptional mechanical and electrical design and construction services in the National Capital Region for over a decade. With a management team boasting over 100 years of combined industry experience, we have successfully contributed to a wide range of projects, including recent commercial developments, retrofits, and system replacements. Committed to fostering a collaborative work environment, we host various corporate events such as summer barbecues, Friday lunches, and team-building activities, creating a culture that values teamwork and connection.
Role Description
Are you an experienced BIM leader ready to drive digital delivery and virtual construction across high-profile MEP projects? We are seeking an accomplished, forward-thinking BIM Manager to lead our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC/BIM) department. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will oversee modeling and coordination teams, establish and enforce company-wide BIM standards, implement cutting-edge workflows, and ensure the seamless execution of MEP projects from pre-construction through prefabrication and turnover.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy & Standards Leadership: Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide BIM/VDC standards, Revit templates, parametric family libraries, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- BIM Execution Planning: Author, implement, and manage project-specific BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) aligned with owner, general contractor, and consultant mandates.
- Coordination & Clash Resolution Oversight: Lead multi-trade 3D coordination and clash detection processes using Navisworks and Revizto; chair coordination meetings to drive rapid, constructible conflict resolution.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Direct, mentor, and supervise BIM Coordinators and Modelers; establish upskilling and continuous training programs in advanced Revit, SysQue, and computational modeling tools.
- Prefabrication & Digital Layout Integration:
Oversee the generation of MEP fabrication spool sheets, bills of materials (BOM), and digital field layout points (Trimble Field Points/RTS) to optimize off-site prefabrication and site installation.
- Cloud & Common Data Environment Administration: Administer Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM 360 platforms, overseeing project onboarding, user permissions, model synchronization, model publishing, and workset structures.
- Process Automation & Technology Evaluation: Identify opportunities for digital workflow optimization; introduce computational scripts (Dynamo, Revit API/Python) to streamline modeling tasks and automate QA/QC audits.
- Cross-Functional Project Delivery: Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Estimating, Prefabrication, and Field Operations to align BIM milestones with project procurement, budget, and construction schedules.
Qualifications & Requirements Educational Background & Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Professional BIM Certification (e.g., CanBIM Professional Level, Autodesk Certified Skilled, or Postgraduate BIM Management Certification) is highly desirable.
Experience
- Minimum 6–8+ years of progressive BIM/VDC experience in the AEC industry, with at least 2–3 years in a BIM lead, coordination lead, or management capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, building codes, and constructability standards.
- Proven track record leading multi-trade coordination meetings and delivering complex commercial/institutional projects from tender to handover.
Software & Technical Proficiency
- Core Modeling & Detailing: Advanced expert proficiency in Autodesk Revit (MEP), AutoCAD, and MEP detailing tools (e.g., Trimble SysQue or Fabrication CADmep).
- Coordination & QA/QC: Expert mastery of Autodesk Navisworks Manage, Revizto, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Cloud Collaboration: Solid administrative experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) and BIM 360.
- Automation & Layout: Proficiency with Dynamo visual scripting; working knowledge of Trimble Field Points and Robotic Total Stations (RTS).
- Strong understanding of model auditing, work-sharing workflows, and digital construction document delivery.
Core Competencies & Security
- Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical BIM workflows to non-technical stakeholders, clients, and field teams.
- Strong organizational and project management acumen, capable of balancing resources across multiple concurrent projects.
