Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper / Tax Preparer to manage financial records, process transactions, and prepare individual and small business tax returns. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in general accounting principles, hands-on experience with accounting software, and be proficient in the use of A.I to automate work.
Bookkeeping & Accounting Operations
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and process journal entries using Quickbooks, and Excel
- Reconcile monthly bank accounts, credit cards, and loan balances.
- Prepare payroll, and manage payroll tax filings
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Cash Flow).
- Assist clients with setting up sharedrives in which documents can be uploaded to support bookkeeping.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision
- Solid understanding of GAAP
Tax Preparation & Compliance
- Prepare corporate tax returns and filing for small businesses (T2 / Payroll).
- Review client financial documentation, receipts, and records to identify eligible deductions and tax credits.
- Communicate with clients to gather missing information and address tax questions.
- Assist with sales tax calculation, filing, and reporting. (HST)
- Solid understanding of payroll taxes, sales taxes, and current small business tax regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in bookkeeping and tax preparation.
Software Proficiency:
- Advanced skills in QuickBooks Online / Desktop and Microsoft Excel.
- Hands-on experience with qualified tax preparation software (e.g., Future Tax)

- Attention to Detail: High precision in numerical data entry and financial reconciliation.
- Client Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for explaining complex tax concepts simply.
- Organization & Time Management: Ability to prioritize multi-client workloads and consistently meet firm deadlines during tax season.
- Integrity: Strict adherence to confidentiality standards regarding sensitive client financial data.
Benefits & Compensation
Salary: $30 per hour
