Site Description: The Carbonear General Hospital is a modern health care facility, serving the communities of Conception Bay North, the Bay de Verde Peninsula, and parts of Trinity Bay. It has 80 acute care beds; and is also connected to a large long-term care facility, the Pte.

Pavilion, consisting of 228 resident beds. It offers a full range of services, including ambulatory care; diagnostic services; general surgery; diabetes education program; patient care education; laparoscopic procedures, physiotherapy; occupational therapy; social work, and it has visiting disciplines in audiology, neurology, pediatrics, prenatal, and ophthalmology.

Position Details:

Position: Casual Security Guard

Pay Rate: $19.90/hour

Overtime: After 40 hours

Schedule: As needed

Posting Date: September 30 2026

Internal Closing Date: October 31, 2026

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct regular patrols of hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, and entrances/exits.
- Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems; report suspicious activity immediately.
- Control access points, ensuring only authorized individuals enter restricted areas.
- Respond to emergencies (medical, fire, security threats) and assist during crises and evacuations.
- Provide customer service by assisting visitors, patients,



and staff while ensuring policy compliance.
- De-escalate conflicts and handle tense situations professionally.
- Complete accurate daily reports, including incidents and security concerns.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement to maintain safety.
- Enforce hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols.

Prerequisites:

- Transparent Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (CSA-approved)
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening
- Proof of full childhood/primary vaccinations
- One adult dose of Tdap (age 18+)
- Tdap booster required every 10 years
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- English fluency (oral and written)
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred
- Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) certification required
- Applicants without UOF/MOAB may enroll in Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet position requirements.
