Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Certified Fire Alarm Technician to join our team on an on-call contract basis. This role is vital in ensuring the safety and security of commercial and industrial facilities through expert installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems. As a Certified Fire Alarm Technician, you will bring your technical expertise, mechanical knowledge, and electrical experience to deliver reliable fire detection solutions.

Duties
- Respond promptly to on-call service requests for fire alarm system issues, repairs, and inspections.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately install or troubleshoot fire alarm systems.
- Install, test, and maintain fire alarm components including sensors, control panels, wiring, and power supplies using hand tools and power tools.
- Conduct system diagnostics to identify faults or malfunctions within low voltage electrical systems related to fire alarms.
- Use construction experience and mechanical knowledge to assist in system upgrades or modifications during installations or repairs.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards, local codes, and manufacturer specifications while maintaining detailed service records.
- Collaborate with clients and team members to provide clear communication about system status, repairs needed, or upgrades.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Fire Alarm Technician or equivalent credential demonstrating expertise in fire alarm systems.
- Proven experience reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams related to fire detection systems.
- Strong electrical experience with low voltage wiring and circuitry associated with fire alarm installations.
- Construction experience or background working within building projects is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with familiarity using hand tools, power tools, sensors, and other installation equipment.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical documents accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices for fire alarm system installation and maintenance.
