Rite Excavation Limited (aka Rite-X) is seeking a motivated, well-rounded, and experienced Pipelayer/Topman to join our growing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for laying and installing underground pipes, ensuring precise placement and adherence to project specifications.

Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, sewer/watermain systems, and safety protocols will help drive the successful completion of infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of pipe systems.
- Assist with site preparation as required.
- Installation of sanitary sewer and watermain piping systems.
- Align pipes, connect pipes, check grades.
- Use of hand tools to prepare trenches and operation of a trench tamper.
- Conduct elevation shots, reading grades, and ensuring the pipe is properly placed in the ground.
- Perform construction labouring duties applicable to the work and to assist others, including hand digging around underground utilities.
- Routine and continuous inspection of pipes for cracks and deficiencies.
- Cutting pipes to length, and preparing pipes and fittings for installation.
- Maintain order and cleanliness at the jobsite.
- Work with the project team to ensure accuracy, quality, and to adhere to all safety requirements.
- When required/possible, operate construction machinery.
- Other duties as required.

Skills and Attributes Required:

- Minimum of 2 years previous experience working with a sewer/watermain crew.
- Strong work ethic.




- Positive health and physical condition - must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs routinely throughout the work day without over exertion.
- Must be able to read and interpret construction blueprints and drawings and show attention to detail.
- Maintain a valid G drivers license and have access to a reliable vehicle to be able to get from job-site to job-site.
- Be able to pass any client required security screenings and/or police background checks to be able to work in security sensitive locations.
- Be flexible to work work up to 10 hours and a day, along with afternoon/evening and weekend shifts.
- Be flexible to work in remote locations for 1-2 weeks at a time (company pays expenses for remote/out of town work).

Work takes place on construction sites where employees are exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, sun, muddy conditions, bugs, etc.). Rite Excavation Limited field personnel will be required to join CLAC (union).

Pay: From $32.50 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 50.0 per week
