The salary range for this position is CAD $32.39 - $32.39 / hour
Detailed Overview
Under the direction of the Manager, Clinical Services, supervises more than ten designated Unit Clerks and/or clerical staff and oversees the coordination of workflow of the Emergency Department clerical area.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the worklow of Unit Clerks and/or clerical staff within the Emergency Department by participating in setting work schedules, setting priorities, organizing operating procedures for a variety of clerical support functions to meet departmental needs, and allocating the work among designated staff.
- In collaboration with the Manager, provides input into the selection of Unit Clerks and/or clerical staff by performing duties such as interviewing and making recommendations for selection.
- Supervises designated Unit Clerk/Clerical staff and students by performing duties such as coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance and determining related training and orientation requirements.
- Develops recent work methods and procedures and identifies problems and alternative solutions.
- Compiles and analyzes data involving the interpretation and application of policies and procedures. Maintains clerical policy and procedure manuals and updates staff on changes, additions and deletions.
- Participates in and coordinates projects as they relate to clerical work.
- Attends meetings as required; maintains department contact lists.
- Maintains and orders office supplies; follows up with appropriate departments on service requests related to computers, printers, fax machines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and ExperienceGrade 12, medical terminology and graduation of a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program, plus three (3) years of recent related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
