Responsibilities:
- Answer, screen and direct incoming phone calls – relay messages and facilitate communication between staff, physicians, and the public.
- Page appropriate Emergency Codes and alarms as required, and implement the necessary procedures according to Hospital Policy.
- Provide basic guidance using established support resources.
- Respond appropriately to urgent and changing situations while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
- Locating is a service run through JBH switchboard. Following proper process and protocol for escalation.
- Using various applications such as SharePoint, EPIC, custom apps, M365 office suite.
- Track changes within schedules and notes for locating service.
- Track access requests for vendor badge access.
- Perform clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school graduation diploma.
- Previous clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare environment preferred; preference will be given to candidates with current hospital switchboard experience.
- Must be able to operate a Multi-line Digital Telephone Branch Exchange System.
- Demonstrated computer profiiciency utilizing the full suite of Microsoft Office Products, Hospital Meditech Order Entry System, and other related software applications.
- Demonstrated typing skills of 40 – 50 words per minute.
- Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated solid communication, telephone, and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with staff, physicians, patients, and visitors.
- Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm, accurate, and professional when responding to emergency calls, codes, and other time-sensitive situations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Hospital and community services.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess requests, determine appropriate action, and assist staff, physicians, patients, and visitors in navigating the hospital system.
