Overview
Eureka Support Society (ESS) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support individuals with persistent, pervasive and diagnosed mental health conditions. ESS provides social, recreational and vocational support, as well as a safe place for members to gather using a Clubhouse model.
ESS is looking for two Clubhouse facilitators, one Part time (15 hours per week) and one Full-time (30 hours per week) Both Clubhouse facilitators will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment for its members . Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, Clubhouse facilitators will help foster meaningful daily connections and support members in ongoing social, vocational and recreational programs at ESS.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, guidance, and assistance to all members, consistent with the overall goals of the organization
- Encourage and motivate members to make healthy lifestyle choices, participate in social and vocational programs and ongoing Clubhouse activities
- Promote and facilitate a safe and therapeutic environment for the provision of services
- Be sensitive to the individual needs of program members to allow them the optimal use of the programs offered
- Monitor members safety and well-being throughout the clubhouse environment, responding promptly to any concerns or emergencies
- Oversee and supervise members working in both kitchen and janitorial vocational programs and help with facilitation of activities as required
- Help resolve any conflicts that may arise between members and staff
- Foster supportive, respectful, and effective communication and work relationships amongst members, staff, Executive Director and the Board of Directors
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of mental illness and sensitivity to the needs of those living with mental health issues
- Demonstrated experience working in the mental health field
- Training and experience in the provision of psychosocial rehabilitation
- Some understanding and knowledge of the Clubhouse model in mental health
- Strong verbal, writing, computer and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and strong proven leadership skills to connect effectively with members of diverse backgrounds and needs
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a collaborative team
- Criminal Records Review Act (CRRA) check for vulnerable population
- FoodSafe level 1
- Emergency First Aid and CPR
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Human Service Worker Diploma - a minimum of a 2 year college/university program in the social or health services field and/or equivalemt experience/education
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training, ASIST
Pay: $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 – 30.0 per week
