Commercial Roofing, Siding, Soffit & Flashing Technician

Shalem Construction Ltd. is looking for an experienced and reliable Commercial Roofing, Siding, Soffit & Flashing Technician to join our construction team.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can work safely at heights, and has experience working on commercial construction projects. The successful candidate must be comfortable working outdoors, operating lifts, travelling to different job sites, and working under varying weather and site conditions.

Position

Commercial Roofing, Siding, Soffit & Flashing Technician

Hourly Rate

$20.00 – $30.00 per hour

Conditions apply. Pay will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, and overall suitability for the position.

Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with and completing various commercial exterior construction activities, including:

- Installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial roofing systems.
- Installing and replacing commercial siding and exterior cladding.
- Installing soffit, fascia, and related exterior components.
- Measuring, cutting, fitting, and installing metal and other flashing materials.
- Installing roof and wall flashing around corners, penetrations, windows, doors, roof edges, and other building-envelope areas.
- Removing existing roofing, siding, soffit, and flashing materials when required.
- Preparing surfaces and substrates for installation.
- Reading and following construction drawings, measurements, specifications, and instructions.
- Using hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and other construction equipment safely.
- Operating boom lifts and scissor lifts when properly trained, certified/licensed, and authorized.




- Working safely at heights and following all applicable site safety requirements.
- Working around other trades and coordinating work to avoid interference with ongoing construction activities.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Loading, unloading, moving, and securing materials and equipment.
- Identifying damaged or unsafe conditions and reporting them to the supervisor.
- Completing work according to project specifications, quality standards, and scheduled timelines.
- Travelling to job sites outside of the local area when required.
- Performing other construction-related duties as required by the Project Manager or Site Supervisor.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of relevant roofing, siding, soffit, fascia, or flashing experience.
- Commercial construction experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience working safely at heights.
- Ability to work on ladders, elevated platforms, roofs, and other elevated work areas.
- Valid training/certification and/or licence required for operating boom lifts and scissor lifts, as applicable to the job site.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to understand measurements, basic construction drawings, and installation instructions.
- Good physical ability and willingness to perform manual construction work.
- Ability to work outdoors in different weather and site conditions.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.




- Ability and willingness to travel outside of town for work when required.
- Ability to work independently as well as as part of a construction crew.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valuable communication and ability to follow directions from supervisors.

Working Conditions

This position may involve

- Working at significant heights.
- Outdoor work in hot, cold, windy, and changing weather conditions.
- Working on active commercial construction sites.
- Lifting and moving construction materials and equipment.
- Using ladders, lifts, power tools, and other construction equipment.
- Travelling to different job sites, including locations outside of town.
- Working variable hours depending on project requirements and site schedules.

The ideal candidate should be someone who can arrive prepared, work safely, maintain good quality standards, and complete assigned work efficiently. Experience with roofing, siding, soffit, fascia, and flashing is important, but a strong attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work as part of a team are equally valued.

Compensation

$20.00 – $30.00/hour
