Position Overview

This cross-department specialist position is designed to train across key manufacturing and tooling departments including tool fabrication, CNC/ply cutting, surface chemical processing, composite layup, and autoclave curing. The primary objective is to fill daily shop-floor operational gaps, provide flexible shift coverage, and build multi-skilled technical capacity in preparation for upcoming retirements

Responsibilities

- Tool Manufacturing & Maintenance: Assist in the fabrication, set-up, assembly, and maintenance of production tooling, fixtures, and molds; assist with tool repairs and cutter/tool sharpening.
- CNC Machining & Ply Cutting: Operate multi-axis CNC routers and 2-axis ply cutters to machine production components, tooling, prepreg kits, and film adhesive materials.
- Chemical & Surface Preparation: Operate chemical anodize and effluent treatment lines, apply adhesive primers to metal components, and handle chemical waste according to safety standards.
- Composite Layup & Curing: Support laminate composite layup, part debagging, vacuum hose setup, and autoclave or batch oven curing cycles for tool fabrications.
- Equipment Maintenance & 5S: Perform daily equipment checks, routine preventive maintenance, and act as a 5S champion/auditor across assigned production departments.





Qualifications & Requirements

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Self-starter with solid communication skills, troubleshooting abilities, and adaptability to learn multiple operational roles.
- Basic geometry, 2D/3D spatial reasoning, drawing/specification reading, and general computer proficiency.
- Working knowledge of MSDS, WHMIS, chemical handling safety, and standard manufacturing tolerances.
- Practical experience operating and handling basic hand tools, general shop machinery, and equipment.

- Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing and tooling shop-floor environment.
- Ability to wear restrictive personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work shift rotations.
- Acceptable eye and color vision examination results.
